Plantaricin NC8, a two-peptide non-lantibiotic class IIb bacteriocin composed of PLNC8α and PLNC8β and derived from Lactobacillus plantarum ZJ316, has been shown to be highly potent against a range of bacteria and fungi. Lactobacillus plantarum is a highly versatile lactic acid bacterium found in various ecological niches, such as fermented vegetable, meat, and dairy products and the gastrointestinal tract. We sequenced the genome of L. plantarum NC8, a naturally plasmid-free strain, which has been used as a model strain in many laboratories worldwide. Plantaricin NC8, a two-peptide non-lantibiotic class IIb bacteriocin composed of PLNC8α and PLNC8β and derived from Lactobacillus plantarum ZJ316, has been shown to be highly potent against a range of bacteria and fungi. A new, coculture-inducible two-peptide bacteriocin named plantaricin NC8 (PLNC8) was isolated from Lactobacillus plantarum NC8 cultures which had been induced with Lactococcus lactis MG1363 or Pediococcus pentosaceus FBB63. In this study we examine the expression of heterologous oxalate decarboxylase (oxdc) in Lactobacillus plantarum NC8. Generally, this enzyme is not present in Lactobacillus spp. Oxdc gene from Bacillus Lactobacillus plantarum is a highly versatile lactic acid bacterium found in various ecological niches, such as fermented vegetable, meat, and dairy products and the gastrointestinal tract.

Lactobacillus plantarum NC8 strain, originally isolated from grass silage (Aukrust & Blom, 1992), was a generous gift from Dr Emmanuelle Maguin (Unité de Génétique Microbienne, I.N.R.A., Centre de Jouy-en-Josas, France). It was propagated using MRS broth (Difco) at 30 °C without shaking.

Plantaricin NC8 (PLNC8), a coculture-inducible two-peptide bacteriocin from Lactobacillus plantarum NC8, has recently been purified and genetically characterized. Analysis of an 8.1-kb NC8 DNA region downstream of the PLNC8 operon revealed the presence of at least four operons involved in bacteriocin production, showing high homology to the plantaricin cluster in L. plantarum C11.

The molecular weight of Plantaricin NC8, a two-peptide non-lantibiotic class IIb bacteriocin composed of PLNC8α and PLNC8β and derived from Lactobacillus plantarum ZJ316, has been shown to be highly potent against a range of bacteria and fungi. 2020-12-01 · To develop a more effective and safe oral vaccine against rabies, we constructed recombinant Lactobacillus plantarum NC8 carrying one or two copies of the G gene with a dendritic cell-targeting peptide (DCpep) fused at the C-terminal designated NC8-pSIP409-sRVG or NC8-pSIP409-dRVG, respectively. A high expression system in Escherichia coli BL21 (DE3) was constructed to produce and characterise the biochemical properties of the MurI from Lactobacillus plantarum NC8. In a 4-L-bioreactor cultivation, 3266 nkat(D-Glu)/mg(protein) of specific enzyme activity was produced.
