The Valhall Flank North platform is north of the main Valhall complex in 72 m (236 ft) water depth. Aker BP is working on expanding capability for water injection to the northern basin drainage area, allowing water injection to depleted producer wells with a view to increasing reserves recovery by 6-8 MMboe.

Aker BP in October announced a $2 billion deal to buy Hess Corp's HES.N 64.05 percent stake in the Valhall field and 62.5 percent in Hod, raising its ownership to 100 percent, but added it would Aker BP will use the Maersk Reacher to assist with well intervention, stimulation, and accommodation at the Valhall field offshore Norway.
